Part 2

I selected an expert who might be willing to mentor me on things he knows that I don't, and who works in more than one of the job areas in Part 1.

Introduction

Meet Jess Purviance. Jess is the owner and Lead Animator at Pilgrim Animation, based in Overland Park, KS, a suburb of Kansas City.

Why Jess?

I chose Jess for this assignment for multiple reasons. First and probably easiest, I already know Jess, and would likely have a good chance of being able to shadow him or get advice on a handful of things related to his craft. Many of the skills and knowledge Jess has span several of the jobs on my list, including Sales and Marketing, fluency of ideas, and judgment and  decision making.  Another couple of reasons I chose Jess is because he is very skilled and has had notable success in his field. He owns his company and has delivered great results on projects for clients such as KC Streetcar (the streetcar system in Kansas City, MO), which led to additional video campaign projects for other rail systems in Detroit, MI, and El Paso, TX.

Work/Experience Summary

Jess has owned and operated his animation business for over 10 years. Jess is also an Adjunct Instructor of Adobe After Effects and Principles of Motion Graphics at Avila University.

In addition to working in animation, Jess has studied business, audio engineering, and worked as a television producer.

Below are links to Jess' company website, his work at Pilgrim Animation, and accolades for their quality and skill:
